Home Away From Home

I had a call from an amazing woman Gail, who runs Krav Maga in SF. She works for an organization called Home Away From Home that was having a fundraiser that need photo coverage. I was in awe of the organization. Please visit the website and see what is possible and what can be changed. I felt honored to be a part of the evening and I intend to do what I can to be of service.

Maternity Exchange Baby Fair

All of the vendors and I seem to come to a very clear conclusion at these events. We need to have our babies attend with us or we start wanting to have another. So many bellies, so many babies. I felt like I either needed to have another one or I needed to have some newborns in the studio ASAP. Guess which one my husband would prefer? I really enjoy these fairs. First I get to practice my conversational skills (a little rusty when I have spent three hours rolling a red ball back and forth with my daughter) and second I get to meet some of the most amazing people.  I always leave wanting to hear from the couples I have chatted with not just because I would like the business (not going to lie I like the business) but because I genuinely enjoyed the time I spent with them. It is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon and I have to say many of my current friends have started as maternity clients I met at the fair.

Getting Ready for Father's Day

I took this portrait of my new friend Andrew for my Father's Day campaign. Any session scheduled before 6.20 will include a complimentary desk top frame.
Bragging time, for anyone who has not seen it go directly to see my baby girl on the cover of Bay Area Parent.
This is nepotism at its' best.

Our new business! Fifi Loves Fido Pet Portraits

If any of you have seen me lately you may have noticed a slightly crazed look in my eye. It is not permanent, I promise! I have been setting up a new business. I will still be doing people portraits but I also want to photograph your pets! Please go onto my new website www.fifilovesfido.com
My brand new website is up for comments and constructive criticism. Please don't be shy! We are also looking for a worthy pet focused charity to work with and donate 10% of our sitting fees to. If you personally know the people in charge please have them contact me!

More exciting news in the portrait corner, I now have contracts in my hot little hands to be the still photographer for an upcoming AMAZING movie Sleeping With the Lion. I am so excited to be starting this new challenge!

A little article featuring your truly (and photographs) can be viewed at babies today.  The article is full of tips on how to photograph little ones in Spring.

First Entry

For your amusement I will, as the circus performer I am, juggle two small businesses, two children, friends, family, and two very cute but needy dogs. Please contain your laughter. I just was on a panel discussing the balance of being a mother and a business owner. Moms and dads, I call for all of us to give ourselves a huge break. Most of my posts will be about photography. Today however instead of shooting I have been holding, cajoling, and lets face it begging. Amazing what can happen in the midst of teething and homework.
Away from my amusement at juggling now onto the photography. New improvements in the studio include head shots. Not just any head shots. No laser backgrounds or molted blues here. No smile for the camera; and please, we do insist here, no quarter back shoulder pads. What we do have is a guarantee, yes you will love these or we keep shooting. Photoshop plastic surgery. If the person in the white coat can do it with needles or scalpel we can do it with pixels. Our fabulous hair and make-up person Nancy Arruda who will give you a lesson and a list of all the make-up she uses. Full resolution digital file (to be used as you see fit with a photo by white rabbit credit). A full consultation about your business and the subtle clues we can use that will speak directly to your targeted customer. This is a happy and relatively painless process (read my yelp reviews)
